Youth Elk Hunts in the Yellowstone Area
Districts 313 and 314

Our hunting district allows youth (age 12-14) to hunt for two weeks beyond the close of the general Montana rifle season. Permits to hunt this special youth hunt are by limited draw only. This "extended" season is 14 days long, usually taking place the first two weeks of December.

Since we hunt primarily on private land, we are able to provide you with a quality hunting experience. When we spot elk, we take our time to do a patient stock. Since we hunt mostly on private land, you will not be competing with hunters outside of our guided party for your elk.

Hunter numbers this time of year are very limited due to the nature of the hunt. This allows excellent opportunities for youth, both boys and girls, to have an exceptional outdoors hunting experience.

The youth will spend a considerable amount of time on horseback during this hunt. We require a parent or guardian to accompany the youth on this hunt.

Price

Our youth hunt prices vary greatly according to how long it takes to harvest an animal and the length of time the youth is able to hunt. We typically charge a guiding fee and a kill/retrieval fee when the youth harvests an animal. Hunt price does not include food, lodging, or transportation. Wilderness Connection does not do this hunt as an income source; we believe it is important to perpetuate Montana's hunting tradition through its youth. However, we do charge for our hunt to pay for guiding and operation costs.

Hunt Length

Hunt length varies according to the youth's school schedule.

Licensing

Hunt price does not include license purchase. License must be purchased before applying for this "special permit". Draw is limited. For more information visit the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks website.

What We Provide
  • Access to the hunting area can be by horse, 4WD, on foot, on snowmobile, or a combination of the above.
  • We provide game retrieval, with your help. Since we are providing this hunt to you for a minimal charge, we require a parent or guardian accompany the youth. The adult will then be able to help with game retrieval. You will be responsible for all meat processing charges.
  • An unforgettable experience in the great Montana outdoors.

We do not provide you with food or lodging. We have several motels and B&B's that we work with frequently.

We also offer special youth rates for most of our other hunts, if the youth is accompanied by an adult paying full price. Contact us for more details.
