Our late season bull hunts are considered
one of those rare "once-in-a-lifetime" hunts. The Gardiner
area late season elk hunt is quite possibly the most sought after hunt
in the mountain-west region and is by special permit only. You must
purchase or draw out a Montana elk license before you are given the
opportunity to apply for the special permit.

If you are one of the lucky 1.5% who draw one of the permits, you will
only be allowed to hunt for 4 days. The late season runs from the first
weekend in January for six weeks. Your permit will assign you a 4 day
weekend (Fri-Mon) to hunt.
Since 1996 we have seen 100% of our late season bull hunters get shots
at bulls. In fact, we have only had one hunter since 1996 not take home
a bull elk from our January/February bull hunts. Most of our hunters
are able to "choose" their trophy from a number of bulls.

Hunter numbers this time of year are very limited due to the nature
of the hunt. This allows excellent opportunity for youth, women, or
handicapped hunters to harvest an exceptional trophy.
